Governor Schwarzenegger wants to cut holding times at shelters!

dukeAt a time when shelters are overwhelmed with an increasing number of animals, when they need additional resources, Governor Schwarzenegger wants to cut their funding. Worst, he wants to go against the Hayden Act and decrease the time animals are required to be held at a shelter before they can be killed.

As it stands now, three to six days is not enough time for people to find their lost pet or for a stray/owner-surrendered animal to find a new home. Three to six days is much, much too short a time for these animals and the governor wants to make that time even shorter! Lives are more important than money. The governor blames the budget. But lives are at stake here. It’s ridiculous.

Please call your California state senator AND assemblymember to let them know this is not right and that you won’t stand for it. Fight for these animals’ lives. Do it now!
